Electronic Help

My live well pump was acting up last time I fished. I popped the switch out of the panel and nothing looked out of place. Thought it must have been the connection of wires at the live well in the hull. Cut them to rewire. Before buttoning up completely I wanted to make sure that was the problem. WRONG. Live well pump works fine when I jump power to it. I cannot figure out what is going on? It is an older model scout with carlingswitchs in the switch panel. Switch will illuminate but is not sending power back to live well. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated…

Try a toggle switch hooked up to the pump, meanig,by pass your old swith with the toggle and see if that works.

Double D.

Check to see if you have 12v at the pump. If you do, then its on the ground side.

Do you have a volt/ohm meter. If so check at the switch for 12volts leaving the switch. If nothing is present, it is the switch itself or no voltage is getting to the switch. If voltage is leaving the switch, check for it at the pump, if you have voltage at the pump, it is in the ground side of the circuit. I would bet the switch is bad (dirty contacts) or a ground wire is corroded.

Good luck!

Thank you all. I will report back.
