Hoping someone can give me some advice on something. Last year on my last trip out I noticed I lost my bilge pump and live well pump. I ended up checking and I lost everything on my dash panel. No problem I figured I’d just figure it out over the winter well I went out to take a quick peek and to get an idea of what i’m dealing with. It turns out the there is a circuit board that is pretty corroded it plugs in to the back of the dash switches and has seperated.
Again I’m thinking no problem I’ll just get a new switch panel and hook them up then I notice two wiring harnesses on the bottom. One looks like it goes to the dash RPM gauge and maybe the fuel gauge, the other harness wires get lost in the main bundle that is wrapped.
My questions are if you had to replace this what would you do it with? What are the harnesses at the bottom? I didn’t see any switch panels with these harnesses am I missing something? I thought it was going to be a simple switch panel but this was a bit of a curve ball for me. I’m hoping maybe someone has seen something like this before. Any help, advice or ideas are welcome and appreciated. Thanks in advance

The switches themselves look like standard Contura style from Blue Seas. No problem getting those.
Not sure about that circuit board, but it’s a mess. What kind of engine is on the boat?

Just from the look at it the board most likely is your ‘ground jumpers’ from switch to switch with out having eleventeen wire jumpers all over the place. I see no caps or resistors that leads me to believe it’s no more than a jumper board…I’m sure someone will correct me if I am wrong. Should be able to just replace the switches and use wire jumpers if the board is fubar. Post some end results when you finish plz!

It’s definitely a buss board of some sort, probably factory specific to the engine and gauges? I see both pos and negative terminals, as well as a diode.
I’d rip it all out and start over with a new switch panel and fuse block

What stumpknocker said. Thats just a jumper board. The plug that says to inst panel is for the lights in your gauges when you turn on the nav lights. The plug for main harness is where you’re getting your source from. The rest are just jumpers to the different switches. It should be easy to get the new switches and cut all of that mess out.

Or call up polarcraft and give them the part # off of the board and see if you can still get a replacement.

Thanks for the insight folks. Confidence restored. Just ordered a new panel and a bus board. Will give it a go and post the results. Thanks again

Update: So after taking this apart I realized I had no idea what I was doing. I ended up having to bring up a battery and manually test wires to try to figure things out which took alot of trial and error. The main harness wires consisted of a + and - from both the stern and bow lights, also + wires from the bilge and live well pump. The other wires visible were where other things (vhf, cd player, compass light, fishfinder) and was the source power for these devices. One of those wires was about a 12ga + and appeared to power the whole board, The active ground I could find on the whole board was in the dash gauge harness and in the -wire for the stern light.
So after staring at this for an afternoon dumbfounded I formulated a new plan. I ended up running new 16ga marine wire from the live well pump and bilge to the console, new 8ga marine wire from the battery to a new blue seas fuse block, I wired the new switch panel and devices into this fuse block and hooked up the gauges, lights, and pumps on the new switch panel. The hardest part was probably feeding the wire from the back to the console, luckily they left a string going from the battery compartment to the console it made it doable. Also was a little rough being in awkward positions between the leaning post and under the console for doing the wiring, heat shrinking, etc… for extended periods. All in all I got her working. The only thing now is my trim tabs no longer work for god knows whatever reason (stoped last season not related to this project) but I have a feeling that I will be taking that to a professional sometime next winter to do

Catchy,
What kind of trim tabs do you have? If they are Bennett just call them they will walk you through the troubleshooting and most of the times provide the parts for free They have the absolutely best customer service that I have ever seen.
Good Luck

They are Lenco. I actually did some research last night and I’m pretty sure I just need to replace the control box and switch, they also apparently have really good customer service. It looks easy enough (famous last words)
