I am looking into getting an Elite 5 HDI for my Carolina skiff to replace the little Humminbird on it now. Does anybody have any experience with these? I am wanting the HDI so I have down scan and regular sonar. Also, this will mainly be used in the upstate and midlands lakes and the occasional trip to the coast.

ive got one - excellent graph–looking to upgrade after xmas only to get a larger screen so my halfblind eyes can see it better! -paid 350 for it a yr ago–havent checked to see what they selling for now but make a offer and it could be yours–it is still in excellent condition and i still have the box and paperwork on it --803 480 three41three

Anybody have any experience with the elite-7’s? If I could get one for the right price I may get one of those for the bigger screen.

I’ve had one a couple of years now and like it alot. I would definately go with the larger screen if you can. I bought mine here and they always seem to have the best prices on electronics. E-7 right now is $460.

What about the elite 7 vs a gen 1 HDS 7 Gen 1? Also, should I stay away from a factory re-man elite 7?

Depends on the warranty on the re-manufactured one. If it’s the same as the new one, go for it.

I had the Hds 5 gen 1 on a boat I sold. I now have an Elite 7 HDI on my new boat. I wish I had went back with a HDS 7 due to the network ability. The graph looks good on the elite 7 but I have never used the downscan feature.

I got the Elite 7 HDI WITH the transducer for $449 from Academy Sports. I tested the unit at Bass Pro and the pre-loaded charts were very good. Salesperson showed me just detailed the stock charts were. He even zoomed in on my home area. I still will convert my SD card chart from my old unit to a Micro SD and load them in but I was impressed with the detail pre-loaded.
