looks like possible main engine interference! does it change with
engine speed ? Does sonar wiring route along with other wiring??
just a few points to check!!!
good luck GW:smiley:
all gave some , some gave all–only two offered to die for you, christ for your sins , the soldier for your freedom!!!
Does not change with engine running or engine speed but the wire is strapped to another bundle of wires that also runs to the battery and possibly the engine. We did turn everything off as far as electronics and boat motor except for the unit and still had the same problem.
Thanks
The frequency looks like outside interference,is this a constant or intermittent??? you know how you can get noise on car radio when
passing power lines!!! I’ve seen flouresent lights create :noise:
on electronic equip, (just thinking out loud)

This is constant. The sensitivity is set on auto and if I manuall lower the sensitivity it will go away but im afraid that will make the unit less effective being turned down so low.

i have had 2 elite hdi 7’s
i would say your scrool setting are a tad low… plus your frequency is way off… you may be set for shallow and be in deep. their is also setings for salt, brakish, fresh… all of these setting’s will result in clutter…
best thing to do is sit down at a dock in about 10ft of water and go thru and set it up play with frequency, sensativity as well as scroll speed… it took me about 30 minutes to tinker with all the settings to get it looking good.
depending where you live i will be in charleston tom and give you a dry run or help you if it is what i think,.
Thanks all the help. At least I have some ideas on what to try. I did not mess with the scroll speed but I did change from General use to shallow and didn’t see a difference. Frequency was set on 200khz.
Railroader, do you recall what the sensitivity setting (%) was when you hit the point that the interference dissappeared? I find on mine that “auto” is usually too high, so even though you may have to manually lower it some, you may not be missing anything.
Can’t swear to it, but at that range, I believe I usually have the sensitivity about 75-80% on mine.

No I don’t remember. Seemed like it was a lot though as everthing on the screen was also dissappearing.
