hello fellow yakers. i have fished ellis creek before from boat and had some nice fish on. never landed anything though. i launched from under the bridge on the river by ellis creek and paddled down in the summer but not a bite. well i know a place that i can launch the yak from a small paddle from the mouth of the creek. i know of a few docks that might hold some fish on the way down their. but my main question is regarding those flats at the mouth of the creek. has anybody ever kayak fished that area? i think i read some where that that wasnt a winter spot but im not sure where. can you guys please point me in the right direction to fishing this place? i will also post in inshore discussion forum.

yakman, are you talking about the Harbor View Bridge or the Folly bridge? I’ve launched at the HV bridge before but it’s a bit of a pain. I’ve only fished up that creek once (though I live very close to there) and I caught a few including a nice slot spot. Never tried the mouth though. It’s not much of a paddle from Sunrise park but I’d think there’d be a bit of boat traffic.
I haven’t learned what a “winter spot” is yet.
yeah i have launched on a dock behind lowes complex off of foly road. and yes i was talking about the harbor view bridge. i know of a dock that has nice fish but havent ever winter fished it. their is also a shell bank that holds trout but it is late in the season. i would just troll a grub on my 7ft and cast a zman on my 6footer. i dont have a winter spot yet either. i cant stop lookin though!
