Emerald Isle, NC

Wasn’t sure where to post this?
Heading with the family to Emerald Isle, NC and taking the 20ft Key West with us. Keeping the boat in the water at Dudley’s Marina.

Anyone have general advice on boating/fishing in the area? On Google maps, looks like there is LOTS of shallow sand bar areas.

Should I be able to cast net shrimp as easily as we do here?
Finger mullet at plentiful?
If the nephews want to catch some sharks, just do the same as I would here?
Any specific areas we should check out?

Thanks for the advice.

LOTS of shallow water back in the sound… be careful
Mouth of Bogue Inlet on a falling tide is great for sharks and bull reds

My Sis has a place up there near the pier, she says lots of finger mullet cruising, hasn’t seen as many shrimp as last year.

There have been Tarpon rolling on the surface at dawn and crashing menhaden pods. Nothing landed from the pier that I know about. They’ve had a few king fishermen get spooled by something.

Boat drinks, Waitress I need 2 more boat drinks!

Thanks Too Busy.
I think maybe just anchoring up in the inlet and big cut bait on the bottom for sharks/reds? I’ll have kids on the boat so the less casting and hooks flying around, the better.

Fish the inlets for sharks.

Oh, the inlet. Follow another boat through first.

For spanish troll the beaches with Clark spoons with trolling weights or #1 planers.

Also, don’t pass up the nearshore artificial reefs for spanish and kings.

Enjoy the Crystal Coast!

Take a lantern and gig, so much clear water and sand up there.
