End of January Report

A compilation of several trip reports in the last week or so. Red bite has continued to be strong, with avg size increasing. A few trout are still to be found in the creeks.

Good to finally meet Stumpknocker in person yesterday. He’s as good a guy as I thought, and has a sweet ride. I’ll see you out there Matt!

This makes me sad. Hit Hamlin sound yesterday and gray bay today in the yak with nothing to show for it. Didn’t even see a single school. Any advice?

Also what type and color jerkbait/ shad immitation is that in the redfish’s mouth in the last picture?
Thanks!

Connor there are many others here with tons of experience on the low tide flats. Basically the reds will be in very large schools in very shallow water. If you don’t know where they are the best way to locate them is to cover a lot of water until you see mud plumes, nervous water, or just blow the school up ( can’t miss that). In a yak you are at a disadvantage because you can’t cover as much water nor have a high vantage point to see a long distance. Keep at it you’ll find them

That’s a gulp 5" jerk shad in sapphire shine color. I have bitten a little off it because a prior fish tore it a little. Yes I do bite them Peapod
