hooked up with john fri for alittle flying steel! left cherrypt about 8 on a flat ocean with eric and new diver dennis. hit the water in 100’ about 9:30 after getting tired of catching the rare bsbs. frist fish up on a lift bag was a huge aj, johns killer blood drive kicking in! eric and john only sent up a few flounder and some trash fish, viz about 20’ temp on the bottom 68. great live bottom just not what we were looking for. went a little further out and grabbed three lobster a nice gag and a few other bottom dwellers. not much going on deep, decided to go in closer and BINGO! next dive 4 23/25lb grouper, they were everywere. schools of huge sheeps and bait covering the bottom, viz 50’ temp65 great dive, great day! not a whitecap all day, dec in sc, awesome!
hooked up sat with cap’t greg on his new proline 29express, nice boat! started out in 65’ and shot our 7 man limit on gags in 30 min. all 12/23lbs. spent the rest of our dives thinning the sheep pop,only thing left opened to harvest, lots of ten pounders! had a great large crew today and we ended the day with my christmss to erics wife, a nice 10+lb lobster in 65’ water, he has become a great friend this year and looking fw to next year! merry christmass to all my friends on cf.com!
Ed forgot to mention that Jordan went 4 for 4 with 2 slob grouper and 2 nice sheeps on his first dive using his new Ocean Rhino speargun. Ed saved the day by letting me wrestle out that monster bug. Coming home with a 3lb+ lobster tail helped me stay on my understanding wife’s good side after diving back to back days. It was awesome mid-December diving with a great crew led by my great friend Bugcatcher who always puts us on the fish and teaches me something new every trip. scott, you ganna be dumb, ya gatta be tough! Didn’t mean to leave out a great dive buddy,Jordan, just a shame it took 2 yrs to ditch the pop gun, also amazing what you can take pics of when you leave the camara topside!
