How far down the transom should the motor extend. I have a 2486 WA Triton with a OX-66 250 long shaft. Motor is over 6 ft tall and sprays water in a “V” when coming up on plane. Actually looks like the trim tabs are all the way down. Not really trying to pick up speed just some extra gas mileage. Motor is mounted in second hole now and I have several friends that the cavation plate is well below water planed out. What is it going to hurt raising the engine and what is the risk?
Cavitation plate level with botttom of boat, depends on vee in hull can be a little above but may blow out when hammering up on plane. Jacking plate will solve the problem down to get it up raise motor to run.
