most of the work we do is fixed fee, not billable hours or shop rate
when we first opened we established a set price for all of our standard jobs, to make it very easy and straight forward for us and our customers.
We even display our prices on our website, to make sure people know what they can expect.

I’ve been in mechanical/electrical maintenance my entire life and
usually TRY to do my own repairs/maint., my 60+ years experience
in these fields has also taught me that select</font id=“red”> fields are better handled by a pro in that field. An auto tech. doesn’t always make a marine tech/or vice versa. The cheaper
route isn’t always the cheapest way to go!!!:dizzy_face:

IMHO A BOX FULL OF TOOLS DOESN’T MAKE YOU A TECH!!!:slightly_smiling_face::slightly_smiling_face:

When you see “Old Glory” waving in the breeze, know that it is the dying breaths of our fallen hero’s that makes it wave.

Funny what some folks consider they need an expert for…Just sayin

I have dropped the foot on an opti 135 before and lo and behold a race came with it out of the power head. It only goes back by pulling the power head and replace. Expensive just arrived. I do my yammie 90 easy but a,opti will never be done by me again. I have owned a couple and contrary to local public opinion, I would buy another one day.

I do ask for a price range before any shop work. I therefore am not surprised when I pick up the boat. Chris and several other shops around here do good work. Their prices are posted or they are happy to discuss price. The price mentioned seems about right frankly.

its not that what we do is so technologically advanced that people cant do it, a lot of people just prefer to do the job they get paid for, and when they have the free time to use their boat, they would rather spend time on the water instead of in the driveway working on something they have no experience with.

I see your point,free time has a value that can’t be refunded…
