My motor cranks easily and goes from fishing spot to spot without trouble, but I’ve been having trouble with my 200 hp Merc efi shutting down at the floating dock when I let my “trailer backer” off at the end of the trip. Once it shuts down, it is slow to crank back up and becomes balky. The public ramp floating dock is the last place I want to lose power. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what it could be?
Tight primer bulb, newer spark plugs, engine runs fine otherwise.
Thanks.
have you noticed a slight loss of top end, maybe just a mile or 2 per hour?
just prior to shutting off, are you losing rpms, and does the motor make a sneezing sound?

I don’t think I’ve lost anything on the top end. I can’t answer the loss of rpms before shut off, because even though it happens with frequency, I’m expecting it to act right each time. As for the sneezing sound, I’d say not that I’ve noticed. I plan to use the boat tomorrow I’ll try to pay better attention.
I am using stabil or startron as a fuel additive with each fill up.
Chris- I didn’t notice an rpm drop, but it did sneeze, maybe a loss of top end. It seems to occur when I shift into reverse. What’s your thought?
engine is running lean when it sneezes
you have a low end fuel restriction
