Bigeyes are fairly common up there. Go to the www.fishbiopsea.com website and you can look back through their reports over the years and get a feel for the frequency in which they catch them. The 100+ lb fish are the norm up there. Typically in the tournaments there are always a handful of them weighed in.

Charter was $1750(split 6 ways) up to you to decide on tip (I won’t say what we tipped but it was well above the norm b/c they earned every penny of it). Cleaning bill was $293(split 4 ways 2 didn’t want fish), and our room was $140/6. Plus the food/gas/ice/beer/vacuum pack roll plastic/whatever. Around $500 at most per man and it would be less if you had 6 splitting the cleaning bill. For the amount of meat in my freeze I figured out around $5/lb. Can’t by it that cheap, nor nearly that fresh, and no way IMO to put a value on that day. Priceless to me and the other 5 guys. Was still running on adrenaline yesterday. Might be the sorest I’ve been ever. Including playing football, P90x, and 60 day insanity. Ready to go back and catch a giant bluefin.

purely awesome!
Also, if anyone is interested, late July and into August, the billfish bite is on fire up there. When the bite starts to slow in Charleston, it’s worth the pilgrimmage to fish up there then. As said before, the Bi-op-sea gives the billfish hell as well. It’s not uncommon for them to get into double digits up there with whites, sails, and the occasional blue. The big tournament in Pirate’s Cove is in August if that tells you anything. When fishing for sails and whitey, you will also have the occasional encounter with the bigeye as well.
