What a great dive trip on Saturday. Went to our favorite drop hole. Bottom 98ft. Blue water great vis around 40-50ft water temp 67 on top 64 on bottom. Mike P and I teamed up and Joe and Bill teamed up. I did not even take a gun just my new liquid image mask camera. What a great job videoed everything from the splash to boarding boat. Mike and I doubled on 2 lobsters the first dive and 3 on the second dive. While Mike was working on a big lobster a flounder came out and I grabbed Mikes gun and chased it down. Joe found my sealife I dropped before new years and it still work and the batter was still charged.
My daughter is working on my video and should have it on utube the next 2 days. I will post the link.
Good stuff. Glad you found your camera too. Looks like this is all we will have to do until they decide to give us a lobster season like everything else.
Nice bugs and good going on finding your camara! sure would like to find some of my stuff lost in the last year,$500 Seiko dive watch (anniversary gift from very forgiving wife, which is why I’m wearing another one)two $100 princeton dive lights, lead weights, spear shafts and two lift bags with stainless steel spikes, etc, etc! But you can’t kill anything sitting on the couch!
Thankfully I’ve only lost bank sinkers this past year. I did drop my $600 spear gun on my first time out with it but by some miracle and a good compass I was able to recover it in barren sand in the middle of the ocean. Now I know to watch out for the outriggers when rolling over the side.
Crazy lost and found story:
We were diving in 90 feet of water off Pensacola and as I was taking off my gear, another diver on the ladder suddenly saw his wedding ring hit the water. The boat captain told the guy to point at the water where the ring hit and he immediately dropped a weighted marker on the spot.
Since my tank still had enough air, the dive boat captain grabbed my gear and did a header off the stern of the boat and was kicking before his head was wet.
A minute or 2 later the boat captain came back up holding the ring. His marker landed just an inch or 2 away from the ring which had 95% buried itself in the sand.
