the fuel sending unit in my '98 sea pro cc went out. the gasket and the unit itself had almost disentegrated due to ethanol ( at least that is what we are blaming ). anyway we go to install new sending unit and find that the bolts that are built into the fiberglass tank on the inside that the sending unit bolt to , several have also disentegrated. therefore the unit will not bolt in tightly still causing a fuel leak. Any suggestions for resecuring the unit to the tank short of pulling the t-top and center console off and installing a new tank. do not want to do this. thanks for any help.

It is my understanding that the ethanol is especially bad for fiberglass tanks.
The stuff causes a chemical breakdown of the fiberglass and all that sh@t goes into the fuel system. Chris may have more info on that.

I wonder if you can get a fiberglass guy to repair that section of the tank. Maybe the patch can be pre drilled and whatever fasteners that are necessary can be built it then glass in the patch?? Just thinking out loud. I’m sure someone can fix it. In Pursuit is right though. I hate a 28 Gallon Pate fiberglass tank on my last Montauk and ethanol pretty much ruined it. You’ll probably still have that issue.
there ain’t no shame in passin’ the rod
