my son jdss and i are going down to the everglades for cichlids and oscars at the end of the month. i know that they took a pretty big hit with the cold weather but wondering if anybody has gone down and how they did. the guides that i talked to said that you got to fish a lot harder this year. any info would be appreciated. thanks.
a friend of mine went last week w/ his wife and 10 yr old son and caught 350 red fish in 3 days. we’ve always called them red fish (myan sickling or something like that). He didn’t say anything about the oscars which we haven’t caught many of those in the last few years anyway. I have another group of friends leaving this week for Clewiston. Have fun and good luck
08 210 sea hunt 150 yamaha ‘86 14’ super scout too much yamaha
Fished 3 days first of March. Flamingo mostly Lake Ingram, lots of Trout and Two Snook 37 & 40 inch fish. Redfishing on the flats tough due to dirty h20 and wind. Saw some Mullet but no Pilchards, hear the Red and Black Drum fishin has been good.
I fished last week out of Key Largo on the front Patch Reef and the Mutton bite was strong. I did not run over to Mingo [ 40 mile run ]but I heard the large Trout bite was strong and a few Tarpon starting to show up in Mingo. But the Pilchards are very hard to find as of last week.
Good luck.
