Evinrude 150XP

It will start just fine with the hose hooked up, and go into gear etc…but when I put it in the water it won’t start with motor trimmed down/exhaust under water. So, I have to start it trimmed up, give it some gas, then trim it down. I know the carbs need a serious scrubbing because they had bad gas in them for a while. What else would cause this? any input appreciated

dirty carbs, no spark on one side

Ok, yeah I figured the dirty carbs were part of it. When you say no spark on one side; do you mean, on one bank of cylinders, or one cylinder? Thanks

either way.

I know that there is a possibility of one cylinder not having a spark. I noticed an oil gas mix running down the head from a loose spark plug. I put it back it but now should go make sure it is sparking. Thanks
