Evinrude 48 carb question

My evinrude 48 seems to be spitting gas out the exhaust. believe it or not it runs great. I got 2 carb kits and am going to rebuild them. Heres the question. What does the fuel line from the carbs to the block and the fuel line to the block do? Could this be the source of my unburnt fuel ?

there shouldn’t be a fuel line from the carb to the block
there may be a prime start line from the “choke” and there may be some “slobber” lines from the block to the intake to burn any excess fuel
start with a compression test
it may be low on one cylinder but still sound like its running okay, but not burning all the fuel
then do a drop cylinder test to make sure its running the same on both cylinders

Will check the compression again. I did check when this started a while ago and all was good, The line I was really puzzled with was where the fuel lines kind split to go to each carb. 1 line also goes to the block it looks like. with the "slobber’lines.

What is an acceptable range for compression?

Just went onto the evinrude site. The fuel manifold that sends fuel to each carb has 3 hook ups. The middle they show as plugged? Mine has a hose that goes to the block/crank case. Do you think there is a check valve or something in the manifold. It cost $57 so I would think something else is going on in it other than just a fitting?

Ok I put my glasses on and quit using the flash light. The line does not go to the block… It goes through the block over to the primer. Checked compression both cylinders 125 psi
