Evinrude E-Tec Service

Who do you all use for your E-Tec service? It seems Evinrude has stiffened up on their requirements for dealers to be able to service their motors.

The only dealer locally that I know of is Cape Romaine Marine .

Seel’s has serviced mine before.

How did you feel about their service? Was it prompt?

That’s where mines been for the last three and half months. Good for them they’re busy, bad for me…

Hopefully I won’t be needing any in the near future. Just curious what my options are if I do.

Johnson’s marine in Orangeburg.

If it fly’s, floats, or, friggs, rent it!

I would call up there pawayne and talk to Richard Powers he is the owner. I feel 3 1/2 months is a little unreasonable even for summer months . I have heard this from several people and that haven’t been happy either .

I got my boat back yesterday. Richard has been aware. He’s just busy and short handed. Like I said, good for them, bad for me. Only time will tell if the service I received is good. Hopefully I won’t be needing any for a while. My 200HP Etec only has 200 hours on it and I have it set up exactly like the book says, correct RPMs etc. Flush it every time, fresh fuel, etc. Just got some bad luck. Love the motor when it’s running, first issue ever and hopefully the last. It’s just bad that there aren’t more dealers in this area when you do have an issue. If I do have another issue I wanted to know what options I have as far as local dealers. I heard Seels is about the only other certified dealer in the area. Wanted to hear personal experiences with them.

I just took mine to Seels in west Ashley this week.
They did everything I wanted, and found a broken motor mount that needed replacement. They had to pull the power head to fix it.

They fixed my Minor issues on the next day it was there, then completed the major repair 3 days later- the same day the parts arrived.
If you take it there, be sure to ask how soon they can be done. They mentioned that not many customers are in a hurry to get them back this time of year.

Time is very important to me because I run my boat all year. I told them I didn’t want to drop it off until they were ready to work, and they took care of me.

They were a big help to me, I would recommend them to anyone.

That is a key factor to consider when buying an outboard, is local service going to be readily available.

Yamaha 250

Yea, they were a bit back logged in the summer when I got my work done, but they were fair, upfront, and did quality work.

I’ve never had longer than a week at my guy’s. Certified Evinrude and Yamaha. It’s a little drive but worth it. The work has to be performed by a certified technician, not a dealer. Look around out a little and see what you find.

I’ve heard that too, but they are not listed by BRP as being authorized, so I’m wondering. Maybe they work on them but aren’t authorized to do warranty work?

My motor is running great since I got it back so that’s a plus. At least they do good work! That’s important.
