Looking at a boat with 225 Etecs. They still have warranty until 2012,just wanted some advice about the Etecs.Dont know anything about them so just wanted some opinions on them.I know all motors have there problems.I had opti’s on my last boat never had any problems in the 300hr I put on them:smiley:The Etecs only have 200hr on them.
We have triple 250 Etecs and have had no problems with 1000hrs. We also have twin 250 Etecs on our rescue boat with about 1500hrs. and we did have a computer problem with one, but it was fixed in less than a week.

How about fuel, oil mileage Old School?
With the trips, we get about 1.2-1.4mpg and the engines are set for oil at 100 to 1. The oil is a bit pricey, but we buy it in bulk(55 gallon drum) and it sure does save a ton of money.

I agree with Old School, we have twin 250’s and have had no problems in the 500 hours we’ve had them. As far as fuel economy goes, we burn maybe 5 or 10 more gallons on a full day trip as opposed to the Yamaha 225 four strokes that were on the boat before. There is also no comparison with the hole shot- its a 32ft Century and will get on a plane with one engine unlike the Yamaha. Overall they are great engins and would reccomend them to anyone.
I would suggest sending an email to SCBOATS or shaind on here, and asking them about the etecs, I think clinton use to deal with them when he was at another dealership
