Okay guys I’m having some trouble, I recently bought a 16ft center console with a 1989 Evinrude SPL 90HP V4. Ran the boat before I bought it with muffs pee’d excellent. Everything was smooth. Took it out day 1, did great. Went out in the harbor and did good, went home to flush motor no water out of pee hole. Figured time to replace the impeller, bought new impeller and replaced it, took it out the day after peeing good and did great all day. Noticed the spark plugs were old and the wrong plugs causing boat to be sluggish, replaced with the right plugs, took it out to try out the new plugs no pee, why? I took boat home and now it doesn’t even want to start up and run. I’ve pulled the foot again and and pushed water through tubes up top to see if there was any trash in the mid unit. Any help!
1.) motor won’t pee after new plugs installed (shouldn’t be related at all)
2.) now motor won’t start
3.) motor is still very slow getting up and going.
Dirt dauber nest in the pee tube is very common.

i find it amazing how small a hole they can get in I like to smear a little heavy
Grease over the hole after flushing.

Can’t figure the not cranking, unless maybe its a fuel supply problem.
Check pee tube as Cracker Larry said. Check/replace thermostat.
Sometimes a new impeller does no good if the water pump housing is worn. I found this on my son’s 25 'Zuki last year. We pulled the foot, put it in a flushing tub, found a socket that fit the driveshaft, and spun the driveshaft/waterpump with a fast drill. We had to replace the water pump housing to get it to pump. The housing did not look all that worn, but wound up being the problem.

Wont pee problem, see above posts, all possibles
As to not starting, possible:
Old gas? After taking home, dirt & sediment stirred up in gas tank. After sitting, the dirt settles to the bottom, clogs the sreen on the pickup tube in the tank or in the filter of the engine. Gummed up carbs also with the low speed jets the culprit.
“this old boat…”
Ethanol in the untreated gas is the killer. It will get worse when they raise the antity with 15% ethanol in the gas as approved by the USEPA.

I try to remember to stick a small piece of electrical tape over mine after flushing. Sometimes I forget. In which case I keep a calibrated piece of wire in my tool box to clean them out. If it sits around here for 2 weeks, they will in get them. along with extension cords, electrical outlets or anything else with a small hole.

make sure the plug wires are properly routed
then check for spark

Before you drive yourself crazy, check the simple stuff.
Make sure your kill switch is in the correct position.
Pull a spark plug. See if it is wet, and if it smells like fuel.
Check for spark. Get an inline spark tester if you can. Most auto parts stores can lend them these days. Just because it sparks outside of the engine doesn’t mean that it will spark with compression.
After that, you should at least know which direction to go.
Okay guys got the motor running good. But still won’t pee. All hoses are clear. Everything is in place. Took pee tube off no water coming into the block. Blew air threw it and also flushed it with vinegar. Still nothing with peeing. I’ve been messing with the past few days now. About to just take it to the man and prepare to drop a grand in it. Fuel is new.
drop lower unit and attach garden hose to see if its a lowerunit problem or upper issue
