Got to fish this afternoon for about one hour. I was seeing a few schools of reds om the flat but could not get them to eat a jig head and paddle tail. The only other thing I had with me were some 3 inch blue brush hogs from bass fishing a while earlier. For those who dont know brush hogs are a soft plastic bass bait that looks like a mix between a crawfish amd a lizard. Put it on a weighted weedless hook and the reds crushed it. caught 3 fish in about 30 mins all around 23 inches. Wondering if yo guys have any suggestions for lures when they arent eating? I deffinently suggest tryng the brush hogs.
Caught quite a few on tequila sunrise zoom lizards before.
Nice advice!
I use the same rods, reels, and tackle (line, soft plastics, crankbaits, etc) for reds that I use for largemouth bass.

Yep, reds will bite the same stuff as bass and vice-versa.

Go smaller. Slim swimz or finesse TRD.
Dammit Hookem, you delete that right now.
Reds don’t have time for those little finesse baits, especially in the winter.
