Has anyone changed their trolling motor to a longer shaft, or done something to have that effect? I can get 3-4" by modifying the collar that tightens around my shaft, and turns the motor…I think? My shaft length works on calmest days but the prop bounces out when it’s rougher.
Thanks
Roger
You can order a longer shaft and change it out yourself. Years ago I had my neighbor make me a 12" extention for mine and I changed it out in 20 min. with no problem ( he has a machine shop and used stainless, and made a coupling to fit the threaded ends.
Thanks. Encouraging. How did you extend wires?
You can splice the leads as long as you stay with the same gauge. Make sure you use stranded core so that the wire is flexible. The splice should be good solder joint with no cold solder spots. Finally use quality shrinkwrap to make a water tight seal. NO ELECTRICAL TAPE!!!

Stagger your splices so you don’t end up with a big bundle that won’t fit back in the shaft!
Good tips. Thanks.
MAYBE???
depends on what motor you currently have.
what motor do you have?

I found a 60 " MK shaft in my junk pile it’s yours if you want it! Don’t know when I’ll be at Edisto, PM me.
I have the MotorGuide Saltwater with i-Pilot and 60" shaft.
that’s not info I can work with
motor guide doesn’t use “I-pilot” they call it something else. If you have a motorguide and not a minn kota, I wont be able to offer any advice of assistance.
