Hey everyone, when trimming the motor down at the ramp, my brother was taking off the M-Y wedge that we use (rubber transom support) during trailering. I think it got caught and pulled this wire off from somewhere around the tilt/trim module but I cannot find definitively where it connects. I am not sure if there was a nut head that broke off or something (you can maybe see a little silver area in the background)
. Does anyone know what this wire is used for. If so, is it ok to run the motor without it temporarily? We did not notice it was disconnected until after our trip. It looks to be some sort of grounding wire or something that maybe is used with the zincs but not sure. Does anyone know how to replace or reconnect it? For reference it is an older yamaha f115. Thanks!
BETTER CHECK FOR BROKEN BOLT HEAD… ITS A BOND WIRE THAT CONNECTS THE MOTOR ITSELF TO THE MOTOR MOUNT TO BOAT… I THINK IT PLAYS A PART IN THE ZINCS… AGAIN LOOK FOR BROKEN BOLT / SCREW , THE RING EYE WAS UNDER IT !!!

I TOOK A LOOK SEE AT MY YAMI AND NOTED THAT WIRE CONNECTION IS ACTUALY UNDER A GREASE FITTING THAT LUBES THE STEERING PIVOT SHAFT;; LOOK CLOSELY AT THE THREADED PIECE YOU GOT OUT TO SEE IF IT HAS A HOLE THROUGH IT;; IF IT HAS A HOLE THEN YOU NEED TO PUT ANOTHER GREASE FITTING BACK SO YOU CAN STILL LUBE THE PIVOT SHAFT…</font id=“red”> HOPE THIS HELPS !!!

That explains the significant amount of grease around it that allowed me to get the remaining part of the bolt out. I was able to find the part online and got it ordered. Thanks again so much again! I would have definitely bought the wrong one if you hadn’t told me that.
