Out on the big pond yesterday, and noticed while bottom fishing one of my engines was idling a little high (900 rpms, normally 6-7). Didn’t think much of it until I went to throw it in gear. Much more difficult to throw in gear, obviously with the fly wheel turing faster. Once in gear, it dropped the RPMs back to 6-7 and then wherever I pushed the throttle. Motors ran fine all the way in, but idled high at the landing. Difficult to load a boat with one motor that jumps in and out of nuetral fine, and one that is a lot harder, but we managed it ok.
Question is rather obvious, but what could be the cause here? Throttle cable got a kink? Motor need to be adjusted?
