F150 will not trim up

It will go down, but not back up. You can give it a little help and it will go up and can even go up on its own to towards the top. I have tried purging it and I keep getting nasty looking oil coming out. Any ideas?

Mine would not go down, turned out to be the solenoid switch. Repair guy fixed it in a jiffy.

Your motor wasn’t running to do the trimming because of an electrical issue. This motor will run, but not much happens. This is a mechanical issue.

It could very easily be the relay. Pull them off and swap them. If it goes up and not down, then go to Autozone and buy one. Easy and cheap.

I have this issue on a F50 some.

sounds like you have a seal coming apart or some other debris in the system
its going to need to be taken apart, cleaned, and rebuilt

Reading comprehension is a major problem in the cf crowd. Lil 2 sleepy, I appreciate the advice, but applicable for my problem. The motor runs when I hit the button up and down, it has power. It is not electrical. Chris, briefly, what is the process of rebuilding the trim and tilt?

Thanks,

remove the system from the motor
take it apart
clean it
replace faulty parts
put it back together.

there is a specific set of steps to follow for diagnostic.

I need to talk the owner into a repair manual. Until then, any idea where I can find the specific steps to diagnose the issue? Can you get the parts individually are is there a kit to rebuild the unit? What would be a ball park cost for you to do the rebuild? It is an 05 and I was shocked to see the T&T unit do this. I guess I was used to my trouble free service out of me john/uki

the specific steps are in the yamaha drive train systems training manual. the instructions for replacing parts is in the service manual.
we can get the parts, and I can get you a schematic, but the diagnostics and rebuild is a bit more complicated than a few lines
