I have an F250 (2006) recently put in new impeller in water pump.I have since had alarm go off 3 different times ( when running slow in creek). The motor pees at speed and at idle. All three times alarm stopped with a small increase in rpms. When I flushed motor yesterday with the hose attachment ( not muffs) it took a long time for the water to show up out of the pee hole. and seemed to dribble instead of the usual flow. I wonder if I got a bad impeller or may have a sticking thermostat. Any one noticed a reduced flow form their 4-stroke. All my other motors have been 2-strokes and always peed hard as anything so this softer flow has me thrown. Any ideas?
1 of 2 probable issues
poppit valve is sticking open
or most common
corrosion in the muffler section.
there is a plate that seperates cold incoming water from hot exhaust.
that plate corrodes allowing the cold incoming water to fall out of the water passages at low rpms, and into the exhaust. at high rpms there is enough water pressure, that you dont see the issue.
is it still under warranty?
PM me the serial number if you want
Chris,
Similar problem on F150, but not overheating. Dealer changed out water pump last year and immediately follwing service; water only dribbles when flushing where it used to spray before replacement. Can’t complain because it runs fine and doesn’t overheat. geechee’s problem also occured immediately after replacement. Why would either of the things you describe happen immediately after replacement? Do I need to be concerned or just wait until it shows an overheating problem? Also, am I really getting a good flush if it is only 1/2 the normal amount of discharge thru the pee hole?
mislilly
the f150 didnot have the corrosion issue
often, when you take something apart, it loosens things and corrosion doesnt like that
