I fished inshore the first time in a while and had a decent morning yesterday. I qent by the weather man and you guest it, low tide was not when he said it was and the wind was much more steady and a lot more north then anticipated. I had plans to wade fiah a creek at lowtide and try to catch some reds tailing. I got there about an hr early and the tide looked good considering rhere was at least an hr to the forecasted low. I fished my way back to where i start wading and caught a 16.5inch flounder and several trout under 13 inches. At this point i noticed the tide was still way up and it was well passed low tide. The wind held the water in keeping it to deep to force the reds into the usual shallow area. They were almost all staged in little creeks at the edge of the flat and when i got close i spooked the bait which spooked them and they shot way back into the creeks and into the marsh. I had 2 options to follow them and end up muddier than a swamp monster and have to march through the mud or swim back or wait for another day. Feeling lazy and with plans for a short trip anyway i made the call not to become a creature of the swamp. I decided to pound the flat a little more and spotted a small red and egret playinh or working together. The red was on the edged stirring it upand the little egret was diggin around and pecking right where its head was. Neither was scared and at one point the reds head came out the water mouth open and swung right by the egrets head and it just gave a little pec at the red. It reminded me of my cat and dog playing. The pec was Just like a little paw slap my cat would give my sheppard when she tries to put the cata head in her mouth. I watched them for about five minutes until the red moved on. Across the crewk there was a grown egret tucked in the grass just watching the little egret. As i fished my way out i saw an osprey circling about to dive. He got about 100ft off the water, made a banked 180 turn, flapped hard twice tucked in and shot straight down and slamme
Nice report
