I know its a bit early but I’ve been seeing large schools of migratory mullet which is a key sign of summer fishing transitioning to fall patterns. The water temp is down to about 80 and at 78 the bite seems to pick way up compared to summer fishing. Just thought id share in case any of you lurkers have been thinking of going fiahing. We are approaching the best time of year to fish in charleston.
Hey 40 ,thanks for the water temperature update.Where did you see the mullet and what size were they? I helped net large mullet near ocracoke island NC with a friend that lived there. We fried em ,boiled em and even fried the gizzards. The locals were crazy about them and I must say, they ate good. I may try some around here if I could find some big ones near the ocean.
They were at the beach at the mouth of the inlets at the low tide stage. They where like 6 to 8 inches but so thick you could cast a net and probably not hit bottom when the school is there.
Thanks
