Fall Harvest

We’ve been out of town for the last two weeks so we haven’t had a chance to take advantage of the nice weather and nice fishing. So, this weekend was my chance to get back out there, didn’t care about the north/northeast winds…I just needed to get back on the water! Bad start when I couldn’t find any of our local tackle shops that had minnows. That meant I would have to cast net for bait myself! Not a good start!
Went out this morning (Sunday) to catch the falling tide. FIrst stop at a very popular dock on the Stono and first cast…23" red on cut mullet!!! Great start. Nothing much else was happening until I got to my most favorite of favorite spots out in Wadmalaw sound. I got there just as the tide was coming in to flood the grass. The reds were there!! I could see them breaking the surface and chasing the shrimp. Landed a couple and lost a few as they ran into the grass and cut me off!! Finished the day with two keeper reds both around 23"

North winds were tough but at least I managed to bring home some dinner!!!

The bottom fish looks to be a little over 23, to me. It’s nose is on 22 1/3 and there is a pretty good bend to the fish… “close” or “around” will get you a ticket form Mr Green-Jeans… and this could be used as evidence… Not saying there is a thing wrong wiht keeping fish, but make sure they are in the slot, it’s there for a reason…

Trust me, they both were within the slot, had DNR officer in his Bentz Craft stop by and measure it with his official ruler!

That bottom fish has some good shoulders. I bet you got some nice fillets off of it.

Well done!
