Fished the Kiawah Tuesday caught 3 bluefish, a lady fish and ~10 reds, 7 of which were 20-23” with one at 26”.
Fished the Wando Wed caught a 24” red and 12 trout all 10-16”.
Fished Kiawah and Stono Friday, 12 reds, 3 in the 20-22 range with one 28” and a small founder. The 28” red took my wife 6-7 minutes to reel in. Tightened the drag over and over to make sure we got the fish in ‘quickly’ so it didn’t die but it was one of the strongest fighters I’ve ever seen. Luckily he swam away strongly after a minute or so.
Got a buddy to come out Sunday telling him the bite was on. Fought wind, got caught in a squall that felt like hail, and all we managed was 4 reds under 16” in the Wappoo Cut. I thought it was the weather but Apparantly it was user error based on fatrat’s report.
Went out today fished the Kiawah caught 3 reds in the 13-15” range. Headed back to the Stono and caught another 10 or so reds all 13-16” and a 9”
Flattie.
Tried to insert photos but keep getting told they are too big. Oh well
Well SeaSkirl, looks like you’ve done a great job with those tight-lines. The red bites are good at this time. Went out late evening and managed a few catch and release reds well in the slot. Waters clearing up a bit so I’m looking for better days ahead.
Nice report.

What bait have you been using? I have been fishing mud Minnows shrimp and various artificials. The Live shrimp have been by far the most successful…probably 3 to 1 success with shrimp vs mudminnows when both were in the water. Plastics least successful except with the trout. Maybe not fishing them correctly. Have tried them on jig heads and under piping corks but not a ton of luck.
