These things are down to 280. What do you all think SPOt or Fastfind (This tning is as small as a cell phone), but doesn’t float.- if you had to buy one or any other alternatives - I also was looking at ACRs PLB for around 375.
What says you all.

If you have the $$$ for a PLB/EPIRB device, I would definitely get that first. I want a spot, but I have a PLB, and I feel like if my life depends on it, the PLB may be a better product. That’s just my opinion, and others here will express theirs, I’m sure. I want a spot for the convenience to be able to call Seatow/notify people if I’m going to be late, etc… but when the crap hits the fan, give me the PLB.
Good luck with your choice. Either one is better than nothing.

Pillage and plunder with a 9wt and a fist full of clousers.
I have the spot and it works great, but I’m thinking about adding a PLB to the gearlist here pretty soon. Coast Guard highly recommended the McMurdo FastFind.

I have an ACR PLB w/ internal GPS, It is an EPIRB in essence, when I push the button, within 30 seconds it sends my distress and GPS coordinates to all Military Branches via satelite and all commercial aircraft get it also along with the coast guard. I can carry it with me hunting or on someone elses boat. It is registered to me through NOAA website also. LOVE IT AND RECOMMEND IT!!! Bought for $300
You do not have to wait for the satelites to orbit either like alot of the older EPIRBS that are out there. Means immediate response vs. 3-4 hours sometimes. To have it serviced and the battery replaced in 3 years is really cheap also.
