fat feeshs

fished johns creek monday morning for a couple of hours. no large amount of bird action (couple scattered here and there) or anything but did pull in 4 shorts. all fish were caught in less than 10’ of water on planars; no hits on dr or fl (except for a bird who just would not drop my fl till i set the hook on him. he soon let go).i really thought the shorts last year were fat but this year it seems they are even fatter. definetly got a good source of bait in the lake it seems. all the fish today looked like this. it was a beautiful day on the water. i went to take my son to school and woke to see all the frost and thought i was gonna freeze, but by the time i got on the water it was nice.

Side note talked to richard today and he said there has been some reports of people catching striper in bottom part of lake. no keepers but awful early i would think. he said he figures the rain has pushed them down some. although i am not willing to put my time in on the bottom end yet… trying to go fri we’ll see…

It is weird. It seems like I have been catching 18" fish for the last two years. I keep thinking they should be 21" soon the way they are eating and the amount of bait on the lake. Last spring and early summer there was giant schools of bait rolling all over the top of the water. Was the water muddy? I went out sunday but ran out of gas 2 miles from koon. Water was very muddy and I never had a hit.

water had just a little stain to it but not much…back towards the back of the main cove just before the bend to go to the hilton ramp was where most were caught but only problem was there was alot of pine staw and leaves which i had to fight to keep off the lines.

we need to get that boat down on the river for some real stiper this spring/summer.

river phishin is fun as can be, but man alive you have to WORK to get home!

hey steely; how in the world did you run out of gas? do you have exterior tanks or built in? i might suggest that you get off of some of that money and maybe put $20 worth in. then again; with that large motor you might want to go to $40. LOL

used to think that phish was the bad luck curse for you Tom…hmmmmmmmm?

It was somewhat intentional. I had a full tank of old gas with water in it. I had a can of gas on the boat to get me back when I ran out, but I was not about to go farther away from the dock. That old merc 175 sure likes the gas. I think I need to quit going full throttle everywhere.

Phishinphan is not the bad luck, I just suck at fishing. But I sure have fun trying

i don’t phish enough to be bad luck. but for some reason we keep doing the same thing and it’s not producing fish. never has except in the summer. but one day if we keep doing the same thing regardless of time of year or weather conditions it will eventually work!

funny how that’s always what he tells steely. regardless of the time of year there’s ALWAYS ‘reports’ of fish being caught from the dam up to spence. LOL

lol…yea thats what i thought. there is no way i am going to waste my time there yet. i really didn’t like the idea of fishing john’s creek yet usally wait till end of feb begining of march to start there. looks like i won’t be going fri, hoping wind/wave forecast changes back to what it was this morning so i can hit nearshore reefs, if it don’t i will be out sat morning. anyone going sat?

you hit the nearshore in a jon boat?

the only fish i will see this weekend are in the chucktown aquarium.

I don’t think its location. When Murraymaker and I were out in the morning a couple weeks ago we were fishing beside the guy that took second. Although he fished there all day and we didnt get there till noon.
