Last few times I’ve managed to find time for sheepshead fishing, the local places have been out of fiddlers. I’ve heard of people catching them on little bits of shrimp, but I never have personally. Anyone ever tried those little canned oysters/clams you get at be grocery store?
While we’re talking about it, what is your favorite type of presentation? I typically just do an 1/8 to 1/4 oz jighead on the mainline.
small chunk of shelled shrimp or get a cluster of oysters from the landing and crack em open and sort of wrap/tie/twist it on the hook. If you can keep a small part of the shell that the muscle is attached to the it will stay on the hook the best. I’ve not had luck, but my buddy has used a small piece of squid tentacle and also a section of crab leg.

No sheepshead today, but managed a couple of those very rare black seabass today caught on clams. All in all a decent weather day for kayaking. Managed to find 1000 cormorants coating a dock in bird poop too. Dock stunk to high heavens.
Get some large mussels - shuck them and wrap them in in cheese cloth tied off like a ball put the hook thru near the edge and then in the middle Save the shells and chum the area you fish.
