Favorite Jig Heads

Wanted to open a post for input… I have my own personal favorites, but I’m always looking for new and better options. What are some of your favorite jig head makers?

I use all kinds but have been partial to these bayou bucks catahoula hookers lately. I picked them up in a rush dont remember which store chs angler or haddrells, but been using them since fall and I might stick with them.

You’ll get a lot of different opinions on jigheads. Quite a few folks here will recommend the small round unpainted jigheads in 1/8 and 1/16 ounce size with the Gamakatsu hooks. They work well for a slower neutral drop of the bait. Personally, I don’t have too much of a preference of manufacturer other than the using the correct weight for the conditions. I do have one preference that saves a lot of time retying and money in lost jigheads, If fishing an area with a lot of snags and/or oysters, I use jigheads with the tinned Eagle Claw hooks. If I get hung up, I can usually pull it loose with braided line. Gamakatsu hooks and the like will not bend like the Eagle Claws and you end up breaking it loose.

ditto on hairball’s comments-- light weight, light hooks and light braid seem to be the trick around structure. a couple people i know use wire hooks (or eagle claws) and can re-bend them a few times before they become brittle/weak enough to retie.

i didn’t know metal bands were into developing fishing tackle. i bet it kills!

I hate DOAs. The cost me 2 nice reds on Sunday when the hooks snapped on brand new, fresh out of the pack jig heads.

Gettin’ jiggy with it! I love the Gamakatsu round heads, but we had a hook bend on us in Surf City last year. Thanks for the Slayer link.

Slayer jig heads is all I use.
