What’s ya’ll favorite river to fish? I’ve fished primarily on the Cooper for 10+ years and a handful of times on the Wando out of Remleys. Looking forward to scout and fish the Ashley and Stono.

I go by fishing factors. Small boats can always fish the folly. I have a small boat so I go there with no worries of weather. Its only to rough on days when most wouldn’t want to be out there. Last year the stono/kiawah had far better action and size to fish. The larger the river and area the harder it is to break down. I try to thoroughly learn a small area than try to take on a whole river. I might work one creek mouth on several tide stages and different times of the year to find if its peak productivity. I don’t fish the other rivers as often just because of convience to my location. But its best to dial in one area before you move on to other areas. In general a lot of similar areas and techniques will produce in most our rivers and learning what produces makes for more effective scouting experiences. The brackish areas can produce a more mixed bag giving you some surprise catches. So all factors considered the folly river area is my favorite river to fish.
Can’t go wrong fishing the Cooper. It has a little of everything from fresh to salt. Shallow flats to deep holes. I’ve had days where we have caught 7+ species in one trip. Not many places around have that sort of variety and challenge. Good luck with your adventures. Post em’ up and welcome to the site!

All of our rivers have their merits. I have tagged fish in the ICW, Wando, Cooper, Ashley, Wadmalaw, S. Edisto, N. Edisto, jetties etc. You could spend several lifetimes trying to learn our waters, its a great place to be a fisherman.

What optiker said^^^^^^ … My favorites are the cooper around yellow house area and the Ashley up to the RR trussel , but all things being equal I usually stay in the harbor , pit street structure , coal chute , from the carrier up to the Rav.bridge , middle ground , and in front of the poo plant… Just like Optiker said most any place , whats good today might not be tomorrow…Good luck !!!
Had a friend used to live on the Cashie river and always said his best fishn spot was where he caught the last one… I always thought to myself, yea right, that best spot changes every day !!!

Coosaw, Bull, Combahee, and Morgan. Minimal pressure. Extremely varying sand bars make it a place that can be dangerous to the unwary.
quote:Yep , I love that area ,we built a cabin down there on Old Combahee island and had the rights to the Williman islands also.Super hunting and fishing,I would give anything to have it back but the family had to sell when one of the older members died. I just don’t get down there much anymore since I don’t have a cabin to stay at.

My favorite river to fish is the New River around Pembroke, VA but when it comes to chasing salty fish critters, I can’t seem to get enough of the Wando and the Cooper.
