What is your favorite/best tide at Redfishville? Planning on a trip on Saturday. Looks pretty good early in the morning if the weather holds up.
Hey Matt,
I’m still kinda new myself, but from what I hear you don’t want to launch at low tide unless you enjoy carrying your yak.
You don’t HAVE to carry it… there IS about an inch of water in the creek I like to fish about 2hrs before high, work the flats wiht the fly rod and when the water starts to move out of the grass I move out and fish the grass line… Falling tide is always my favorite though… Low tide launches are a hoot and I highly suggest it to everyone, nay!!! it should be a rite of passage to fish the ville… one low tide launch at least and then you are free to fish the ville
Just lace 'em up tight and plow through… the mud isn’t deep til the end of the creek…

Pretty much what Nikon said. If you can get out on a rising tide (ideally before a good flood tide) just as the water reaches the grass, you should find them heading up to tail. Fish that high tide by paddling or wading the grass with artificials. Once the tide starts to fall, I like to drink a few beers, then set up along the edge of the grass with cut and live bait. Fish should be coming out of the grass and cruising the edge. I have had the most luck on bottom rigs with just enough weight to keep the bait down, but float rigs tossed up into the grass can work well also. Make sure you have some braided line, because they will run you back into the grass.

Matt/NJ,
If the winds are not blowing at 40knots and it’s not raining then I’ll be out bright and early.
Matt,
Bring a chunk of rope when you’re at the “ville”. I’ve heard that it helps when dragging the yak thru the pluff mud, in case you try to cheat the tides.
Hope to meet you on Saturday.

Jimmy Buffett can have Margaritaville, I’m going to Redfishville!
I may be there in the morning, but if the wind is cranking I may head to more sheltered waters (paradise?).

Nice meeting you all at the 'ville on Saturday and thanks for all the advice. We returned on Sunday and managed a couple of nice fish in the rain. Fished the Wando on the early outgoing and caught a couple there as well including one sightfished with a fly. super cool!

That’s an age old question…where’s Redfishville??? Sometime ago “some guy” dreamed up that name to conceal his favorite spot while posting photos…
