Great day on the water aboard the High Yield. Dropped on a live bottom that was covered with 25lb red snapper! No wonder, Big Bugs everywhere. They were so thick when Scott looked under that rock they started kicking each other out fleeing in fear. One landed in Eric’s lap while he was stuffing the bag with another. Nothing quite like a 8lb bug climbing up your crotch while you are distracted. Watched Scott chase a fleeing Bug across the sandy bottom, amazing how fast a 10lb lobster can move with that large unit hot on the trail. At the end of our dive the bottom was covered with legs an antennas and large Cubera Snapper moved in to feed on the carnage. We were winded as the current was ripping and had to let them live for another day!(Eric shot a 21lb Gag when I had my back turned)Ended the day with some flounders and Bsb’s big enough to shoot!
Ton of fun with the crew from the High Yield, thanks for the invite, always fun times.
Good stuff as usual. I was stuck taking out of town guests on a cruise around the harbor but it’s nice to see the picture of your haul to know what I missed. Get some sleep Ed, you’ve got to get up early and go hunting.
The current was roaring!!! 24 ounces of lead at the ledge to hold bottom. I love those slippers! taste like Dungenes crab. we released 6 of those “Endangered species”
.
NMFS = No More Fishing Season
“Back home we got a taxidermy man. He gonna have a heart attack when he see what I brung him”
Great time on the High Yield, many thanks to everyone! I thoroughly enjoyed the bug battle dive. I was wrangling 3 bugs under a rock, 20 feet from where Ed and Eric battling bugs. I pulled the first one out to place in the bag, when #2 bug decided it was a good time to run. Going back for #3 bug, I tickled the bug out from under the rock area when it decided to swim swiftly toward Eric, between his legs to his chest. Eric quickly bear hugged that one. I was laughing in my regulator knowing that Eric had no clue of the present I delivered to him as they were concentrating on the other bugs.
Yes, the fleeing bug beat me, but it is something to look forward to the next time.
