Feast or Famine...

Spent a lot of time on the water the last 7 or 8 days…Fished from Beresford Creek to Prices Inlet and pretty near everywhere in between. All tides, all times, all wind conditions…The one constant was that the bite was like a light switch, either on or off. For both trout and reds.

Summed up the entire week yesterday at 1:36 PM…landed the first red(10 pounds) of 25+ reds in the next 58 minutes, with 11 of them being 5 to 10 pounds.

That was after missing two bites around 8:30am, landing a nice 6 pound red a little after 9am and no bites at all for the next 4 hours. Hit 5 or 6 spots, used live shrimp, mud minnows, blue crab, assortment of soft plastics and not one nibble for 4 hours. At 1:25 pm, second cast, live shrimp…boom, straight into the grass on top of oysters, finally took the boat on top of the oysters, scooped up the fish…I figured he was a goner, but he kicked off strong.

I was sure all of our antics in the grass spoiled the spot, but first cast back it was game on and non stop for 58 more minutes.

Never give up, they are out there some where.

I concur with the bite…on or off. I blame the moon. I never do well when the moon is out during the day. Combine that with a full moon and mornings have been sloooooowwww!
