I have a 2008 Mercury Optimax 150. Put the boat in the other day, get 100 yards from the landing and the boat shuts off. Could not get it to crank back up. Squeeze the bulb a few times and would not get primed. Get home and checked the fuel water separator and it had a hole in it so all the gas had leaked out. I got a new one, filled it with gas and put it on. Gas was in the line as it took a prime. Boat will still not crank. I put a different brand back on that was supposed to be compatible with the one on it. Any ideas?
Probably just a low battery I know that sounds crazy but I could not get mine to start before worked on it for a couple days it would turn over fine but would not fire off finally took it to the shop and it was a low battery Mercury’s require a certain amount of voltage or something like that to start?
opti’s do take alot of voltage to start. definetly worth charging the battery and trying again.
turn the on and let it sit for about 10 seconds, and turn it back off
do this about 4-5 times, after fully charging the battery
