This knot was new-to-me, and it has advantage over Albright, in that there is no tag end protruding to catch on rod guides. You can see several variations on youTube, and note there are different ways to finish it. Some are like a bimini-twist, others use more half-hitches.

Talk to Phin about the FG knot, in fairness those were big fish. I watched a video Courtland did on the Page Ranking knot, bought the bobbin and tied some up. Surprisingly it’s very easy to do if you get that bobbin.

Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn’t go so far as to call a dog filthy but they’re definitely dirty. But, a dog’s got personality. Personality goes a long way.

I saw 2 variations. One was pretty easy and somewhat like an Albright, with one tag end rather than 2. The other was way too complicated. I’ll have to try the first variation.

The PR and FG are similar knots or at least work under the same principle. You can extend the wraps on the tag of a PR knot to cover the “nub” if you desire.
We started with the PR knot a little over a year ago and have had stellas locked down on massive sharks and AJs with 40+lbs (actual drag poundage, not guestimate) of drag and they have never slipped and will cast a mile. Pain in the ass to spin on the boat but if you can rig up four or five rods before you go its worth your time.
