Just wanted to get opinions from folks who may have had one of these? I have one not being used and wanted to ask before trying to use it. This is a 150 that I have. Thanks!!
answered your email, but depends on the year. Ficht got a horrible rep, and deservedly so, and alot of guys won’t even touch them. 2002 and later are as reliable as anything else out there and are a very good motor. earlier years are hit or miss but if the earlier years are still running and have more than a couple hundred hours on them they will problably be as good as any other used outboard. Run a good oil in it, semisynthetic penzoil does fine. Soemtimes its a little difficult to find anyone to work on them so keep that in mind. check with Chris V and see if he works on them
Agree with what Jeffro said, I had a 150 hp 2002 on a keywest 2020. I ran it for 2 years and put 300 hrs. on it without a single problem. The only complaint I had was every 50 hrs. having to replace the plugs to keep it running smooth. The plugs are $12 apiece and make sure you time the opening of the anode towards the injector.
