Field and Stream Store

Stopped by the grand opening last night. I really really like the store. I am a huge bass pro fan but I believe it has switch to F&S. It is there 13th store to open. Think that is pretty awesome. It is the only big retail store to carry the Trout Trick and Trout Eye that I have seen and the prices are pretty good.

Delayed but not Denied!
The comeback starts Tomorrow

Thanks for the report. Captain Wild Bill will be there tonight from 4 to 7. He is from Discovery Channels Deadliest Catch. Probably my favorite Captain. He puts up with no bull crap. Speaking of Bass Pro…what is the latest on that? When it was announced 2 years ago it was scheduled to be complete by August 2015. I have not been able to find any information on what is going on with it.

Key West 1720 115 HP Johnson Saltwater.

CU is right. Field and Stream is really nice. They’ve got a huge selection.

Do they have 130lb spectra braid or swordfish bait?
Calusa or Black Pearl cast nets?
12oz egg sinkers?
Bait Binder?
Bubba Blades?

Last I heard on the Bass Pro was they were waiting for a few more roads to be built to begin construction. If it hasn’t started it should be over a year out.

Field and stream is nice for inshore and freshwater in regards to fishing. Offshore they have less than half an isle. Do not expect get any useful info from employees though, knowledge must not been a requirement to work in that section…

I heard Bass Pro was delayed, has anyone heard when Academy is supposed to open?

I heard BPS backed out…again.

Field and Stream are owned and operated by DSG so as long as you temper your expectations, you won’t be disappointed.

Went through there this afternoon. Next time I go moose or elk hunting, maybe I’ll buy some gear tbere. What I need they don’t sell; more time to fish and be on the water.

I plan on checking them out this week. It’s near the house, so why not. Is it just an over grown “Lodge?”

I went by to check it out yesterday. I didn’t see the trout tricks but the place was full of people so I might have missed it. I didn’t realize they are owned by Dicks (or vice-versa). With that in mind, it’s just a larger version of Dicks and it has a wildlife scene in the middle that looks out of place. Curious to see how well it does. Definitely not a BPS.

Location, Location, Location I think they will do fine with being at Tanger Outlet. When the wife say lets go shopping he can drop her off and head over to a manly store.

This. They are in an excellent location with no real competition close by. They also have the best on the shelf ammo selection of any big box sporting goods store around. Gander doesn’t come close. I have a number of odd caliber firearms and normally have to resort to a larger gun shop to get my ammo if I forget to order it online. They had 444 Marlin, 500 S&W, 25 Auto and a good selection of 16, 28 and 10 gauge shells.

They will not put Haddrell’s out of business? How was their live bait selection?

I stopped in on Saturday afternoon. Nice store good rod selection as well as reel selection. Trout tricks are with the Zman baits . I still like the palmetto state armory and Haddrell’s stores better . They have a better selection of fishing gear in my opinion .

It’s a sorry frog that won’t praise his on pond .

I hope that’s not a serious question because there’s no way in Hades F&S is going to put HPT, CA, or PSA out of business.

The truth is none of these stores will really hurt Hadrells or Charleston Angler. First, they are not located anywhere near them. I live in Goose Creek so my options are to drive 30+ minutes to the local places, order from Amazon, or Walmart.
Now I have Gander Mountain and F&S.

F&S seems better than Gander with a better selection of Fresh, and near shore tackle. They have some off shore stuff, but I really didn’t see any large spools of heavy braid, calusa nets, 12oz weights, or live bait. I did see a good assortment of lead, some better quality nets, and frozen bait including large whole squid.

If they are smart, over time they will adjust to what we ask for, but I thought the same thing about Gander and you cant even get a real Gary Yamamoto Senko there so we will have to wait and see.

I did find the Trout Tricks by the Z-Man wall behind the Spooling station and Savage 3D Shrimp/Blue crab. Been killing the reds and flounder on the shrimp.

I don’t walk into the home improvement store and expect professional electrical advice or Walmart and expect professional fashion advice, and I will not walk into a BPS, F&S, Gander Mt, or Dicks and expect them to teach me how to fish.
