Fifty Fifty Tournament disqualification

Believing that the tournament start time was 7 AM, we were lines in unknowingly one hour before the actual start time. Despite the fact that we caught a 34 pound wahoo and a 24 pound mahi after 9 AM, the tournament committee summarily disqualified us. This was the absolute correct thing to do. My mistake, my loss. We have fished the 50-50 tournament since it’s inception. Whether under the management of Stevie Leasure and Charlie Aimar, or now the administration of Haddrell’s Point Tackle, the tournament has always been one of the best organized and most enjoyed. Thanks for the hard work, and congratulations to the winners. We are looking forward to next years tournament. You can bet I will not miss another captains’ meeting! (or at lest review rules on website)

Well done Louie.

Fantastic Sportsmanship! Job well done. Good luck in next years tournament!

Job well done is right… couldn’t agree more with the previous comment!

Salt Shaka’

Capt - thanks for the integrity and hope everyone can be inspired to do the same and set an example for our next generation - when I heard you announce on the radio your lines were in I knew you just didn’t know the start time. This is a great tournament and thankful Haddrell’s kept it going!

Game Time

I’ll bet that’s one thing in your life that won’t get repeated! At least you are not beating yourself up over it!

Like everyone else said … Way to go on the fish and sportsmanship.

“Why Bruce?”

Nice to see some actual principles these days.

I had a great time fishing with you on Saturday (always do). It stinks that we were disqualified, but I definitely appreciate that you are a man of integrity.

No matter the outcome of the tournament, it was a great day on the ocean. Wahoo, tuna, dolphin, and a release sail. A nice double at one point. Can’t wait to go out again!

Louie,

We greatly appreciate you and your anglers fishing the tournament! I know your guys enjoyed the fishing and the day with you despite the outcome on the tournament. We greatly appreciate and respect your integrity on the tournament and it’s rules. Mistakes happen and that’s all it was. Best of luck to you for the remainder of the offshore season and we hope to see you next year!
