Finally manned up and got out despite seas being a little bigger than I prefer. Since the A team was “unavailable” I got to scout some new talent who aquitted themselves in excellent fashion. Fishing was a little slow. Started at SWBanks with a tunny, then trolled to GTHole. Water temps were nice 72-73 all day and weather got better and better but little bait and no flyers. Found a weed gathering and pulled three mahi off it. Followed after lunch with a day maker Wahoo on, of course, the fluoro rigged shotgun! Worked him very carefully to the boat where I was relieved to find I still remembered how to use a gaff! Good thing too since he spit the hook soon as he hit the deck. Unofficial spring scale weighed him in at 70 lbs.
Now I know the gaff still works, look out mahi here we come!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=YTJjyPGwADs
