Haven’t had a day off in 2 weeks, but finally got to go today. I’ve been hearing about all the schooling activity and a good bass fishing partner gave me some intel about those green fish. Left the landing just before daylight and headed to a good bass spot that I(and he) know about. Caught a few, but nothing to write home about except the ones that got away(as usual). So about 9:00, I headed out to look for stripers. Ran into the 4th fleet near Goat so I headed elsewhere. Ran into the 6th fleet at the mouth of Bear. I guess that nobody works anymore, at least not Mondays. All were chasing schools with a lot of hauling a** around and jockeying for position, but not much catching. Tried to find some fish that I could have all to myself and got lucky. I had a nice school all to myself and caught more than my fair share of nice keepers(largest was 29") with all released to fight another day. Most were caught on downrods around 30’-40’ in about 60’ of water, but the largest fish was caught on top. Used up 4 dozen herring. It definitely was a good day.
