So, after picking up this beautiful 2005 sailfish 236 back in April, it’s been to the shop to fix steering leaks, it’s been to another shop getting the through hull’s and deck hatch replaced/repaired. and now i just got it back from “Total Boat Repair”. they re-did all the upholstry and bolsters and wet sanded and waxed and new emblems. The difference is un-freaking-believable! check out the before and after pics. Next is getting a little electrical work hopefully by @Stump_Knocker
but right now I just want to enjoy it for the summer. hopefully my next pictures are holding fish!!!
When I owned a 236, the max HP was 250 according to the plate. Mine had a 225 and was fine, but more is always better. I bet it does well with that 300 back there.
yea the hole shot is immediate with the 4 blade prop. if motor trimmed and tabs up i get about 50, but it’s sketchy and doesn’t feel comfortable. motor down and comfortable tabs WOT it runs about 5800 RPM and 41mph. It runs best cruising about 32-35 though.
With that 225 I had, i feel like 44 was my top end, but i don’t remember if i had a 4 blade on it or not. I think i did. Cruise around 27-28mph per gps. It handles the slop great though.
It’s a great purchase and I’m happy for ya! There’s a used white 236 for sale right now West Ashley near Books a Million and I thought about stopping just to look at it, but my babies are still too small for me to be getting that thing! I’m sticking to the small boat and the sandbars until they are old enough to be out all day.
