Fire His Ass (Big Rock)

The Captain is RESPONSIBLE for his CREW !!!

The Boat owner is Responsible for his Captain, I doubt the Captain was the one cutting the checks for all the different categories of things being signed up for. It was another $150 check for 10 licenses.

Fire the captain? He caught the biggest blue marlin ever boated in 52 years of the Big Rock! A $1,000,000 fish! I will take care of the logistics let him drive the boat. Seems like he would be pretty marketable.

Set the trap boys, we going to pass through them again!!

Dare I? Yes, yes I do.

The mate knew he had no permit. Evidently so did the captain. Fire them both. You could catch Moby Dick for all I care. Willingly break contest rules and you’re a goner.

Umm, you gonna eat that?©

Thousands have died to save my freedom. Only one has died to save my soul!

Was this a charter boat…if so isn’t the whole crew covered on the charter permit… if not… 1) boat $2,500,000 2)tackle $20,000
3)tournament entry $20,000 … Catching a new record marlin in the big rock… priceless… or penniless in this case…

Fire the captain & mate. The captain should’ve made sure everyone had their paperwork before leaving the dock. We check all crewmembers licenses, mmd’s, & twic cards before the start of every rotation. The owner might own the boat, but the captain is the responsible person when the law steps aboard, a lawyer would tell you this.

the first thing i did before we left the dock is asked my captain if i needed one. the owner, capt and crew are all responsable to do their part. there are so many things that have to be checked double checked and checked again. the first one to believe that it’s one persons falt is a fool. it’s a team effort, it’s everyone’s responsability to read the rules, regs and have a team check off list of their responsabitities. i new exactly what was expected of me on the boat i was on and so did the guy next to me and so on. it’s to easy to blame one person. if you fire one than they should all go. the only one that gets a free pass is the poor bastard that chartered the boat, they never know anything. never assume when there’s that kind of money on the line. hell fire the charter to, he doesn’t care he just lost a million dollars.

Agreede with eveything you said PAPA Bear, but it all comes down to teh CAPTAIN is responsible for the boat, the crew, the charter, EVERYTHING to do with that boat. That’s why he is called the CAPTAIN.

This is one of those little things that 99% of the time don’t matter because catching that fish on that day is like winning the lottery, but I would hate to have that 1% bite me in the A** and that is what happened to that Captain.

X2.

Captains get all the glory on the good days and all the blame on the bad. Not sure how he came away clean other than the owners were on board.

…because everything is a conspiracy!!!

To repeat a post I put on another thread.

To see how close to this we all are.

Next time you are coming in with fish in the box and the first can is in sight, tell the crew that the DNR boat is at the jetties and that they should get their licenses ready.

See who reaches for their wallet and who reaches for a cell phone.

DNR aren’t going to do a polygraph - you have it or you don’t
