Why do people not sell wood by the cord anymore?
How much is a “truckload,” is that more than or less than a “trailerload,” and what size is your truck? How can anyone decide on whose wood to buy when they all have different trucks or different ways of measuring quantity?
I really am baffled by this…as someone who made a living some winters splitting and delivering wood BY THE CORD!!

Most people couldn’t tell you what a cord is. Second, most people do not want to provide a full cord of wood. It’s a pretty good stack of wood.
I used to get in trouble if my dad could find a hole in the stack to push a stick into. Thing had to be tight, bark up, and small enough to handle each piece with one hand. Powered with Seven dust in a sock to keep the roaches out.

A full size pickup bed 4x8, leveled off used to be about a 1/2 cord. Not many full sized beds anymore. They added back seats and shrunk the bed size to keep trucks about the same length. Now beds are 6 foot, 5 foot,or whatever. Who knows what you get with respect to an actual cord.

I’m betting A LOT of people are having trouble selling wood this year. The storm probably gave many sellers street side product to pick up and we’ve only had 2 cold days all year. January is nearly over.
