first artie slam 4/27

started my lunch break with a few rat reds, then a fat trout, then 5 mins later a 20" flatty to complete my first slam without natural bait!

i saw a juvenile green turtle while fishing, silversides are all over the surface, menhaden flipping in the deeper water, mullet jumping in the shallows… summer is here!

had never really tried sheeps in april until this year, but they’ve been good to me as well- i got an 8.5lb a couple weeks back. good luck to everyone fishing the CIA tomorrow!

BAM! Nice job. How bout a length on that trout? Inquiring minds want to know!

lower ashley, mike. saw your report- never trolled for trout, always wanted to try it. thought this one was a red for a minute- they sure do fight a lot harder when they break the 20" mark.

thanks vince, mrs barbawang is very much looking forward to fresh flounda!

I have always been able to catch trout trolling with a, now discontinued, STORM, 3", single hook, blue/green flat tail shad. Spent all day on ebay yesterday buying up most of what I could find. Even called Rapala to request they put them back out. They make one similar, but once you find something that works, hard to change. The reds like them too! Should you get the urge to try the trolling, I would be happy to meet you and give ya a couple… they should be here in a few days. I am down to my last two but ordered about 4 dozen more. Will be on the water all day Sunday and probably tomorrow afternoon if the wind stays down. IM me and I will give you my cell if you are interested.

Nice trout. Love to see the “fat” ones.

I agree Mazarati, I’ve found the DOA’s work for me and i almost refuse to believe anything else will work, because it usually doesn’t, i just feel like i know how to fish the DOA shrimp better than shad lures. Barba what artie where you using?

What a nice TROUT?

Too Fish or not Too Fish
That be the question!

Wow, nice way to spend lunch. I mean not as great as the Lean Cuisine I had sitting at my desk but very close. That trout is a beauty!

Very nice!

thanks y’all- mike, i appreciate the offer. i’ll PM you and maybe we can get together at some point! did you do any good over the weekend? friedDOA, it was a clear/■■■■■ paddletail on a white jighead worked slow- water was really clear.

the dog was just as excited as the wife about our dinner guest :stuck_out_tongue:

i completed the fresh/salt grand slam friday night with bluegill and bass in a friend’s pond, then caught a bunch of whiting and sharks saturday, and stuck my first flounder last night gigging with brother in law- it was a good weekend!

way to go!

(**() nice trout. Looks like some of those dinks I have caught the last couple years have been able to grow up.
