I was lucky enough to be invited on the maiden voyage of the Palmetto Son yesterday. We took our time yesterday getting out and was able to get lines in around 9:30. Caught one slinger within 30 minutes then after getting lines back in to be cleaned and rebaited the unexpected happened. In less than 300ft a 300lb class blue crushes a short lined midge pattern we stumbled on. That was a joke. I had know idea how big a fish of that caliber could be in real life. Fought him hard on a 30 for about 25 minutes then he broke off during a massive display of tailwalking. After I caught my breath and lines back out I boated a good bull about 35lb. We went out deeper but did’nt have any luck so we came back in closer and had another Blue hooked for about 5 minutes, you guessed it, on the other 30. Picked at the slingers for a couple more hours then headed for the hill. Truely an outstanding day for me out on the flat blue water. I just wish we could have gotten the leader on the Blues. God Bless and tight lines. Still waiting on my pic of the Marlin jumping.
